CHRISTMAS QUIZ NIGHT

PHIL'S COMMENTS
. Xmas get together Monday 15th Dec
With the weather we have been having, the organisers of our Christmas get together the Rose and Crown Ramsbottom team, were becoming worried that people might not get there but thankfully the weather held off and a successful function was held.
Nearly all teams were represented, although the Sundial Walmersley Road decided to go on a league venue tour before arriving at the Rose (was the girls distracting correct navigation Barney!). With Peter Taylor writing a mammoth quiz, the first rounds of pictures were handed out and as normal, teams began to argue who the faces were. The scores after the first set of rounds had the Phoenix knights in leading position, must have been Robin’s wisdom that swung it, with the Rose Starling in second place although with Legend Wally playing for around six sides on the night it was close all round. With hearty food provided by landlord and landlady Chris and Christine enjoyed by all some teams were volunteering to lick the dishes it seemed the newly renamed hairy hounds come to mind.
With raffle tickets aplenty sold by Louise Russell and the league treasurer Margaret Chamberlain and no shortage of prizes headed by the SAT NAV unit kindly and very generously in these crunch times donated by our sponsor Bury Reprographics Limited and of course its Managing Director Mr Roger Bolt was attending on the night. With the quiz proceeding well the lead was still held by the phoenix lads until the final round of currencies and then they hit a wall it seems, as they fell away. With the quiz complete and the scores being tallied it was time for the draw, first ticket drawn was Barney’s from the SunDial who chose a bottle. Our sponsor’s top prize was chosen by Kieran Goldsbrough who said his son will find it useful for navigating to the kitchen.
With the Quiz scores tallied it turned out to be the Rose and Crown Starling who just managed to win with lots of answers to lots of questions. Runners up was the Cricketers who just managed to pip the phoenix boys but across the board there was only two or three points in it. Thanks to go to the Staff of the Rose. Peter Taylor, Margaret, Louise special thanks for organising the night and thanks go to our sponsor Bury Reprographics without whose support the league couldn’t function as well
Jan5th week 12
With the league recommencing following the break the league could be decided tonight in effect. The top match is the visit to Rose Starling of the Phoenix Knights, with the knights taking the honours in the first half and faltering before the break the “in form” Rose may be the favourites on paper but ... the break will have helped the visitors to regather. Close but a home win ...just!
Rose Rammy host Swan B another close match here and a draw could be on again but if the Swans fed well over the festivities they just may have the edge.
Leaders Radcliffe Cricketers host the Packhorse with points being at a premium this could go either way if the Packhorse team are on form.
