PHIL'S COMMENTS
full report later due to unplayed match and part of report script missing below!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The First week of the new season saw the sad withdrawl of one team due to work commitments when St. Mary’s A pulled out, however team members have expressed a wish to remain active within the league and John Heenan will still be delivering the Questions to venues on a weekly basis and hopefully the team may return to the league next season. One fixture remains outstanding from the week and will be re-arranged for later as Shoulder of Mutton v Ramsbottom Cricket Club could not be played due to the Cricketers having a prior engagement.
Due to this, the web report is shortened and a full match report has been written and will be posted at a later date.
First match for last seasons runners up Rose and Crown Starling had them visiting Heap Bridge Social Club with the Rose electing to go first the first question had them stumped for an inauspicious start with . Halftime score Heap bridge 17 Rose and Crown 22.
Round five saw the Phoenix nights of Steve, Neville, Barrie and Neil grab some points back with Neil starring. .Final questions had both teams prove they were mister men with Anne grabbing the Roses points, to leave the match tied at 43-43. Match of the week.
The beer round played five handed saw the Phoenix Knights easily overcome the Rose in the first ten questions to take the cash.
The Rose and Crown Ramsbottom hosted the Stopes Tavern, and Peter Taylor had his Tigers purring along nicely as the Paul Gardner and his team proved why they are known as the Elves (only win at xmas) had a poor start to the season again by going down 45-35.
PackHorse Affetside had the St. Mary’s B team visiting and after a late arrival the team many tip for high honours this season showed Sue Pinders cup holding home team why when they scored well and won easily with a 38-53 scoreline.
The Hare and Hounds had the toughest draw of the opening round when they had to visit the champions Radcliffe Cricket Club, Yosemite Sam reports:-
Start of a new season alas without St. Mary’s A and the Hare and Hounds assembled at Radcliffe Cricket Club. Peter Maguire made has first decision of the season and the Hairy Hounds went first. . The third round saw the Hairy Hounds fall only at the final question and the Doddy Men grab another full house for round scores of 8-6 and totals of 22-14. Final round went to jiminy, giving the Crickets a final round score of 8-4, and final totals of Radcliffe Cricket Club 51 Hare and Hounds 36.
So new season same old result , Radcliffe didn’t appear to miss Mr Dobson not making his Mark, but for the Hounds Mr Ainsworth might have come in ‘Andy.
Beer leg went to el Championes 22-21. So the Doddy men went off to celebrate, while half the H’s went off in search of Divine Beer.

Week 2 19-09-2011
The second week of the season see some big early season clashes.
First up is the St. Mary’s B who have the Heap Bridge Knights visiting and both sides have shown good form on the first week but the home side may just have the edge to post a second win , however the Knights may get a second draw.
The Hare and Hounds host the Holcombe derby with Shoulder of Mutton visiting, with the Hounds slipping up against the champions last week they have at least had a match whilst the Shoulder were twiddling there thumbs. Last year saw the Shoulder improve very quickly and they could upset the Hounds on that form but I think the Hounds with last weeks result ringing their ears will take this first derby of the season.
Second Derby match has Ramsbottom Cricket Club host the Rose and Crown with Taylors Tigers purring nicely last week, this may be a sticky wicket for the Cricketers and they may be bowled over this week to become kitty litter.
SunDial Walmersly Rd host there first match this season with the visit of PackHorse Affetside having gone down heavily against St. Mary’s last week Sue may have given the lads some revision but Helen may have her side champing at the bit. Close game but maybe an away win …just.
Final match and potential match of the week has the top two finishers from last season facing each other in this eary season clash with the Cricketers hitting top form from the off and the Rose Starling stuttering at the Knights venue the Cricket Club may be too strong for the home team. Away win.
Stopes Tavern are having a week off.
