Week10Monday 1rst Dec
With the first day of Advent upon us and everybody trying not to think about the coming festive season this weeks quiz was a cracker and it went with a bang for certain teams. Match of the week was the game at Rose and Crown Bury where the Rose were facing title contenders Heap Bridge Social Club, and the cold weather must have woken Ian Openshaw’s lads as they beat the previously in form Phoenix Lads comprehensively 58-41. Team of the week was SunDial Walmersly road who have started there climb up the table at last as they have recorded their first win, with Helen and her soon to be grandmum probably having maternity bags on standby, they overcome the former honours contending Pack Horse Affetside team who by the result looks as though they had a pantomime evening. The Score 38-24, well done, at last, to the Diallers. The remaining two matches were also contenders for match of the week, Stopes Tavern ended up brides maids again when they hosted this weeks Radcliffe Derby against the Swan and Railway B’s in a match that was close all the way the scores ended up 44-46 to the visitors. Final game this week featured Swan and Railway A who had Rose and Crown Ramsbottom visiting, in a match where there was never more than two points between the team until the final questions the visitors just came away with the points in a final score of 35-39 and no-one got sent off for handball apparently. An intersquad three a side friendly on Rose and Crown Starling’s free week ended with Anne’s Army of Terry, Anne and yours Truly coming back from a halftime deficit and thrashing the opposition Wally’s Warriors of Bob, Kieran and Wally by a score of 52-47. The runaway leaders Radcliffe Cricket Club were also on a free week. Week 10Monday 8th Dec With the halfway point reached in the league the first matches of the second half take place in this final week before the league breaks for Christmas festivities hosted at the Rose Ramsbottom and the festive break. Top Match this week could be the Rose Starling against Rose Bury, with Ian’s Bury team hitting form, this traditionally close match will be competitive as usual, and with no quarter given a draw won’t be a surprise but the home side may just have the edge this time. Stopes Tavern hosts the Cricketers and in a match that may be closer than the home side are gearing up for, the visitors may just get this one, but you never know taverners.... Sun Dial host Rose Rammy and this one may be a repeat of last weeks result for the home side if maternity duties allow, the Rose Rammy have had an up and down season so far, but it will also be very close. The Swan and Railway Derby match between the A’s and B’s will be another knife edge affair both sides are hitting a run of form again and the b’s will want revenge, but the visitors may just have a sneaky extra dose of mavis’s Christmas tonic!!!. Final match this week is the Pack horse hosting Heap Bridge Phoenix lads with the visitors donning snow shoes and crampons to play the match probably, that dedication and a need to win to stay in the title honours race, mean that Pack Horse may go down again. The Christmas get together is next week and the top prize could be a Sat Nav thanks to our sponsors Bury Reprographics Ltd. |
