PHIL'S COMMENTS
This week's quiz was a tough one and some interpretation of answers was required by question-masters. We have written to Century about this. The results show very close contests in all matches.
Match of the week was difficult to decide but newly awakened Stopes Tavern's narrow home derby defeat to title-chasing Radcliffe Cricket club has just clinched it, with Phil Dodd's men squeaking a 44-46 away win.
Rose and Crown Rammy pipped the home side Sun Dial by just 2 points also, 39-41, Peter Taylor's side having the rub of the green this week.
A close contender for team of the week was Heap Bridge Social Club who managed to score a rare away win by beating an improving Pack Horse Affetside 39-43. Well done the Phoenix boys, who, despite their away form blues are still fighting for league honours.
The Swan and Railway Radcliffe Derby had the "home" B side beating the "away" A side 45-39, Enid must have watered Mavis's magic potion prior to the match but the B's have kept their outside chance of league honours going.
Final result of the week had leaders Rose Starling hosting the in-form chasers and nemesis Rose and Crown Bury, Ian Openshaw's side with Terry Carey guesting know that if the first round scoring had been slightly more favourable to them, they might have ended the night better. Lee Sawbridge's knowledge of naughty book terms in the final round saw the leaders and hosts through, after a geography error had moved Wigan Pier to the Ship Canal. Score 49-44.

All teams have matches for next week with some very competitive games in prospect. Match of the week is Heap Bridge Social Club hosting Swan B, with the Phoenix Nights lads at full strength, Enid will have to up the Swan B's form to take anything away. Rose Rammy have the Pack Horse visiting and Sue won't want the Pack to slip back to early season form, but the Rose will take some beating at home, a close result predicted here. Rose Bury will want to keep up the pressure on the leaders and visitors Stopes Tavern will find it a tough test, even though they are starting to gain some winning form. Radcliffe Cricket Club have the Sun Dial visiting. If the Sun Dial emerge from the shadows and play at the top of their form Eunice's men could run the Cricketers very close. Swan A host Rose Stlg who have always enjoyed this fixture win, lose or draw. If Mavis feeds Wally her magic elixir, a home win is not beyond the bounds of reality.
