Bury & District Quiz League Week 11

Strange goings-on at both ends of the league this week & I'll start at the lower end of the division where the so far hapless RBL welcomed the Stopes Roses into their lair!!

Margaret rolled out her latest secret weapon in search of the elusive 1st win & shot out of the blocks piling on the points round after round & despite both sides recording a full 8 points on the stick or twist round, Stopes were trailing by some distance at half-time 28-20.

Resistance was in vain, as they defied the odds & their lowly position to put in a masterclass of consistency, barely putting a foot wrong & registering a further 32 points in the second half, to leave us eating their dust & applauding a huge points tally in making 60 points to our paltry 40.

Very well played & at the time surely the high score of the night.....

Little did we know of the shenanigans going on back at base. Despite a solid performance from the Dungeon A, the Cricketers were racking up an unprecedented points haul & sending Statto Openshaw trawling through the archives to determine if this was indeed the highest score ever recorded in the current format?? 30 points in the 1st half followed by a massive 40 in the second culminating in the most impressive scoreline of 70-43.

WOW!! I doff my Cap to the Cricketers & the league has a definite 2 Horse Race about it now as the Shoulder won again down the Hill at the Hounds & Ian & Co must be kicking themselves after registering a blank in Rd 4 when every other team appears to have scored 8?! & losing by 5 points 49-54

The Dungeon B are right back on top form, making light work of St Marys, who seem to be floundering in the Doldrums these past few weeks & again failed to add to their points tally, losing 52-42

Well, an eventful evening in a very high scoring contest & a crazy 30 point differential between the highest & lowest scores, I guess my reference to our "B-team" may have spurred the Cricketers on??
