PHIL'S COMMENTS
All teams should have been in action this week, however one match was reported as defaulted for reasons unknown so league rules apply. Heap Bridge defaulted at home to Swan and Railway B. Swan B are awarded their average score of 43, and the match points. Sadly if correct, this probably has put paid to the Phoenix Nights boys' league honours ambitions but may have put them in for a good cup handicap.

The matches played all had good scoring for the winners. Match of the week was played out at Radcliffe Cricket Club, where Phil Dodd's side won on the last question against the Sun Dial - Eunice marshalling her men to an unlucky 51-50 defeat. The Sun Dial will get the better of these close matches soon! Rose and Crown, Rammy scored well in their match against Mike Pinder's waning Pack Horse team. Peter Taylor's side ran out 54-41 winners. Rose and Crown, Bury bounced back to winning form and kept up their league ambitions by beating the visiting improving Stopes Tavern team 51-42. The Swan and Railway A hosted leaders Rose and Crown, Starling and in the first half Mavis's tonic had run dry but Julie Keenan and Louise Hardman brewed another batch for the second half to improve the home score. The Starling side scored well thanks to Kieran Goldsbrough's knowledge of running the gauntlet and Bob the Builder's pet cat. He was ably helped by Terry "Twinkle toes" Brierley's Lambada. Match score 34-58.

Week 13

The matches for next Monday are crucial and league honours could be thrown up in the air and virtually won at the same time. Match of the week is the leaders Rose Starling hosting second place Radcliffe C.C. The Cricketers must win to force a possible points scored battle in their favour, concerning league winner's ambitions. A loss will throw them back into a potential points scored battle for runner's up honours. While the Rose Starling know a win will almost mean them retaining the title. On recent scoring results the Cricketers are slight favourites. Swan B entertain Rose Bury in another top of the table clash. The Swans will spoil the Rose Bury's honours chase if they win and enhance their own slim chance, while the Rose Bury have to win to keep up the pressure on the front two. If the Swan B are on form it could be very close. Stopes Tavern have the Rose Rammy visiting this week, the Rose Rammy may be showing some strong scoring form lately but the sneaky feeling is that the Taverners may just pip them or draw! Sun Dial host Heap Bridge. If the Phoenix rises, Eunice and the Sun Dial boys may be pipped at the post again. Final game this week is Swan A up at the Pack Horse. With Sue Pinder wanting to goad the Pack Horse lads into showing some race winning form, it could be a home win but only by a nose!
