PHIL'S COMMENTS
Week 15

Lots of highs and lows this week in terms of match results for teams chasing honours. Match of the week could have been, for different reasons, any one of four results. The eventual pick has to be the derby match of Swan and Railway B at home against title contenders Radcliffe Cricket Club. Alec's Swan B side returned to early season form when they themselves were in contention for honours and dented the title hopes of Phil Dodd's Cricketers by winning a close encounter 41-38.
The match at the Pack Horse had the honours-chasing form side Rose And Crown Bury visiting, and in a cliffhanger of a match Sue Pinder's home side dented the visitors' hopes by forcing a draw with a score of 36-36. Ian Openshaw's Rose side needed a win to keep up the pressure for possible runners-up spot, especially with the previous result going in their favour.
Top points scorers this week and making a late season charge according to Paul Gardner, is his Stopes Tavern side who beat the travelling Heap Bridge Social Club side 45-30. Paul's words for the leaders are "we are chasing you!".
The Swan and Railway A team shared a full prescription of Mavis's tonic before travelling to their match at the Sun Dial and it worked wonders, as Mavis lead the visitors to a win over the unlucky Sun Dial Team 31-35. Eunice's talented side just can't get the rub of the green at the moment.
Final game played saw leaders Rose And Crown Starling gain revenge for the early season loss to the visiting Rose And Crown Rammy side. Peter Taylor's post match thoughts are unprintable but he was well-supported throughout the match by the excellent Margaret Chamberlain, Ian Taylor And Susan Booth. The home side, in an unusually noisy atmosphere, gained a strong lead in rounds two and three and didn't look back with Bob Selby and Jayne Woodward playing well, supported by the legendary Wally Warrington and Kieran's knowledge of former communist countries' entry ports (was he a James Bond in a former life?)Final score 44-30.

Week 16
With two teams on free weeks from now to the end of the league season, all the matches are looking to be crucial for league position and cup handicap scores.
Match of the week is the Sun Dial hosting the Stopes Tavern. Although these two teams occupy lower league places, both teams will be capable challengers for cup honours. With Paul Gardner's Taverner's hitting a winning run of form at last, Eunice's Sun Diallers will certainly be fighting to overturn their own run of being the wrong side of some very close results and this may be the match to do it, although it will be very close scoring again.
Another close match could occur at The Racecourse where Phil Dodd's Cricketers will host Peter Taylor's Rose Rammy side. The Cricketers cannot afford to lose another match in terms of league hopes, but the Rose Rammy will want to gain another top scalp in their own up and down season. Nervy home win on the cards.
Swan A have the Rose Bury visiting. Mavis's tonic will have to be at top strength for this match, as the Rose team must win all remaining matches and hope a result goes in their favour for them to gain runners-up spot. A Rose win is a probable result but you never know.
The remaining match this week has the leaders Rose Starling visiting the Pack Horse. With Mike Pinder's Pack team showing good improving form, this derby match is not being taken lightly by last year's champs, especially as the Pack Horse are the reigning runners-up! Close fought away win likely.
Swan B and the Heap Bridge Phoenix lads are on a free week.
