SECRETARY'S COMMENTS
|
Firstly, apologies for not being able to attend last night, by all reports I missed a tough, but even contest & it was very well attended by almost all teams, so thanks for supporting the league & making the KO Final a special event for both teams involved.
Secondly, a big thank you to the Hare & Hounds for hosting the event & providing the usual excellent Fayre & a special thanks to Jill, Ian & Andy for officiating & making sure it ran like clockwork. Well on to the main bout of the evening & after RBL did the double over Stopes in the league, giving them an additional 6 point start would make it a challenge to say the least. Two rounds in & the advantage had evaporated as the Roses led by a point at 16-15. RBL responded in the 3rd gaining 6 points to a disasterous 2 from Stopes in the second consultation round. RBL shot back into the lead by 3. Round 4 must have been an absolute stinker, 16 points at stake & RBL saved embarrassment & the complete whitewash by registering a single point, to no response from Stopes & made a respectable tally of 22 at the half way stage to 18 from the chasing pack. The gap widened even further in Rd5 to 6, was the writing on the wall for Stopes?? In a massive shift of fortune, Stopes piled on the points & the agony for RBL as they comprehensively out-scored them by 20 points to 9 over the closing 3 rounds & victory was ever so sweet as they ran out deserved champions at 40 to 35. Well played both teams, in what was a true test of a broad spectrum of knowledge & excellent scoring under the circumstances. Next week see\\\'s the season finale of the Presentation Night at St. Marys, can I remind each team to bring along at least one Raffle Prize. The Quiz will be a stroll in the park compared to last nights, it could be an 8 team tie-breaker?! I\\\'ve ordered supper for 9pm ish, lets end the season with good social evening & hopefully a similar turn-out as last night. Thanks again to all who attended last night & see you next Monday, get there early for an 8:30 prompt start. |
