The season finale as usual took place at St. Marys, it was a light-hearted affair & as question-setter/master I was pleased that I seemed to pitch it just about right & after 8 rounds & a possible 90 points at stake, we had a tie!!
The Shoulder & The Cricketers amassed a very creditable 72 points a piece & the team in last spot were only 7 points behind, so how did I split them up?? Dead easy, tell me how many days Queen Elizabeth II has been on the Throne. Now then the Royalists amongst us might have an idea, I was clueless, as I expected both teams to be & join me scratching their heads. We had a difference of opinion!! The Shoulder offered up 22,460, whilst the Cricketers astounded everyone by being only 2 days out at 27,382 (actual answer was 27,384) & they proved worthy winners, I guess they hadn\'t factored in enough leap years?? But an excellent call all the same. Brian from St. Marys took the spoils with the nearest answer to highest attendance at Ibrox, 118,700ish, I cant remember the exact figure & the icing on the cake was the excellent fayre from the The Burnden Park Pie Company, crackin Pies Grommit!!! Thank you all for attending, I\'m still baffled how the Hairy Hounds failed to match a single winning ticket in the raffle, did they actually buy any tickets?? Hopefully a long hot summer is ahead of us, spread the word, another couple of teams would be a healthy addition to the league. We will re-convene around the end of August, to organize the 2017/18 season. Have a great summer everyone & thanks again for your support, your hospitality & your Bonhomie!!! |
