SECRETARY'S COMMENTS
|
Well 18 games in & using Horse Racing parlance, I think its fair to say we are in the final furlong with the Shoulder a length ahead of the hard chasing Cricketers & with the winning post rushing towards them only a Devon Lock moment can prevent the reigning champions from securing another league title.
I'm not sure salvation is in sight for the Crics but a huge haul of 62 points was the impressive high score of the night up at RBL, whose hastily assembled squad saw them offer only 25 points in reply by their make-shift squad. 3 much closer games ensued elsewhere, non more than up at the Shoulder, where the visitors were suffering altitude sickness in the opening 2 rounds, when they trailed by 8 points & they must have felt it was game over & a night to forget..... Well they must be kicking their heels at the slow start, as they actually out scored the Shoulder in the ensuing 6 rounds & made a strong challenge to rain on the Shoulders Parade. An excellent high scoring game & the high scoring game of the night, Shoulder taking the spoils 55-50. The Dungeon just cannot buy a win & must be heartily sick of me reminding them they are in the Doldrums, week after week, bad luck doesn't come close to explaining their incredible run of losing games by the narrowest of margins, neverless, credit to Alec & co for holding on & winning 43-40 Talking of the Doldrums, the Stopes Roses have been in the wilderness recently, when were are on our A game we can mix it with the best, but our off nights are woeful, but thankfully it was Happy Days last night!%?* WE WON!!!!! a very close game, we were trailing by 3 after 5 rounds but turned the screws to take a long awaited victory 46 to 39 A polite reminder to the Shoulder & RBL B, that you need to pay your Subs ASAP, £55.00 to Margaret, you are both within close proximity, please make every effort to settle up. |
