This week saw the Quarter final of the cup With Ramsbottom Cricketers winners over St Mary's the week previous were hosting The Shoulder of Mutton and in The battle that ensued The Shoulder were leading at half time by 1 point however The Cricketers adjusted their fielding positions and edged the match on a leg bye to win by 1 point! Meanwhile down the road at the Hairy Hounds the home team had the league Champions as guests The Coach produced a master stroke & elected to go second from the onset, in the second round The Hounds were left sniffing for clues as The Coach took the round 10-0!The Coach then showed why they are champions & won the match by 18 points leave the Hounds with a hang dog expression no doubt! In the battle of The Roses after round 1 The Roses of Ramsbottom lead 7 - 12, however as we all know that when you go South from Ramsbottom it's all down hill and that's what happened to The Ramsbottom Roses with them losing by 18 points however to raise their spirits they took the beer leg, finally on the western frontier at The Stopes Tavern Saloon Stopes took on The Radcliffe Cricketers with a 5 point deficit to make up from the start The Cricketers stuck to the task steadfastly by chipping away at the disadvantage into the last round it was 40 points a piece! however The Stopes Gang again suffered a bout of last round jitters and only scored 1 point with The Cricketers bowling some excellent answers to take the match by 5 points! commiserations to all the losers Congratulations to all the winners and in a Footballing parlance " There is always next Season" good luck to next weeks teams with Radcliffe Cricketers hosting Rose & Crown Starling plus The Champions Coach & Horses away to Ramsbottom Cricketers!
