SECRETARY'S COMMENTS
|
At the Rose Starling the home team had a 5 point handicap start over the Cricketers who decided to go first, this seemed like the right choice as at the end of Rnd 1 as they had clawed back 2 of the deficit. In Rnd 2 Individuals the Rose scored 8 points to the Cricketers 5 to extend their lead to 18-12. The Cricketers won Rnd 3 to pull the lead back to just the Handicap i.e. 5 points. They then won Rnd 4 (Stick or Twist) 4 points to 2, and the Rose\'s lead was down to 3. Half time score 26-23. The Rose won Rnd 5 by 7-4, running total 33-27. Rnd 6 2 part questions ended in a 10 all draw to make the score 43-37 with 2 Rnds to play, but the Cricketers challenge ended with a 10-4 defeat in Rnd 7 Individuals and Rnd 8 went to the Rose for a final match score of 55-43.
Meanwhile at the Stopes the Elves were falling asleep again ( mainly waiting for answers from the Dungeon B). Both teams found the going a bit on the tough side, with the Stopes unable to make inroads into the handicap. By half time the score was 13-20, slowly but surely the Elves stirred themselves and started to outscore the Dungeon Boys. By the end of Rnd 8 the scores were level at 38 (if only one of us had known Alice in Wonderland HAD a cat we might have won it at the last). So we had to decide the cup semi final on the Tie-break question and the Dungeon guessed 1 year closer than the Stopes. So the Final will be Rose Starling(+5) versus Dungeon B(+18) and will be played at the Hare and Hounds on Monday 13th April all teams are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served so can all teams attending email Ian Openshaw on ian_nomad_openshaw.co.uk with some idea of numbers for catering. The Presentation Night will be on April 27th at St. Marys Social Club. Once again please let me know numbers, so the Pie n\'Peas can be ordered |
