What a cracking Cup Final we had at the Hare & Hounds last night, the battle of the Stopes\' 2 teams The Taverners v The Cricketers. The Cricketers started with an 8 point handicap so some thought they would have their work cut out, but they set about their task with a will. At the halfway point they had cut the Taverners lead to 5 points. The second half was nip and tuck all the way to the last round. The Taverners went in to round 8 with a 3 point lead, both teams got their first one right. Taverners struggled over the 2nd question is the answer Bruges or Antwerp, needless to say we chose wrong and the Cricketers picked up a bonus, its all square going into the last question, the Taverners get theirs wrong no bonus for the Cricketers but they get their question and they have won 43-41. So its congratulations to the Cricketers and hard luck to the Taverners [there is always next year]
I would like, on behalf of both teams to thank Gill for reading the questions and Pete for keeping score. Also thenks to Ian and the rest of the Hairy Hounds for organising, yet again, a great night for our cup final, also the pub management for a really good supper. Next week 11/4/2016 is our Presentation night, with Pie and Peas supper] I will again ask everybody to bring a raffle prize {and buy the raffle tickets} to help raise funds for the League. There will be a 50-60 question fun quiz, so please get there early as I will be starting at 8:30 |
