SECRETARY'S COMMENTS
Giving a 20 start is always going to prove challenging & the Hairy Hounds certainly had their hands full clawing away at the double digit start to the league new-comers in their 1st Cup game .

Points were hard to come by for both teams in the 1st half & with Rd 4 only providing a solitary point to RBL, it meant the Hounds were heading to the Bar right on track, eating up exactly 50% of the defecit as they trailed 18-28.

The second half proved a far happier hunting ground for the home side as they piled on the points & lo & behold, they entered the final Rd trailing by 2 & the 2 bonus points they collected would prove vital in securing a 6-4 win to make it a draw.

Much head scratching ensued, thumbing through a rule book which doesn't allow for this situation, meant a quick call to myself & it was decided to play the Beer leg as a deciding Rd. & the Hounds ran out victorious 18-13.

The Dungeon carried their excellent late season form into their game with the Cricketers & they needed their 10 point start to eek out a 9 point win in another closely contested game, an excellent win 57-48

The Roses also needed their 8 point advantage to run out slender 50-53 point winners in a tightly contested game, that could have gone either way in the closing stages, especially after we drew 2 blanks in the stick or twist Rd.

PS: Happy birthday to Susan for yesterday & Bernard for today, crack open the Gin Bernie!!!

Even with a 10 point start, I suspect the St. Marys team still felt like it might not be enough & I have to say, credit where it is due, from a standing start, the Shoulder piled on the points & amassed a truly impressive 60 points, excellent scoring & it puts the fear of God into next weeks opponents!!!

Can I remind last seasons Cup holders to get the Brasso out & give it a once over before returning it on Cup Final night, we have a very narrow window to get them engravved for the following week.

Good luck in next weeks games
