SECRETARY'S COMMENTS
|
Well, we have come to the end of another season. Despite a cock up by the question setters. which set us back a week, we have managed, I think, to enjoy the 2014/15 season. We have had some tough (some would say too tough!!) questions, some obscure questions and some that Einstein would have struggled to answer. Still it has kept us occupied on Monday nights through the Winter.
So we gathered last night (Monday 27th April) at St Marys Social Club, to present the winners with their prizes. But first another quiz, supplied by our usual question setters. 10 Picture recognition, 10 Blockbusters, 30 General Knowledge, 10 Art and 10 Music. I thought it was a very good quiz, but then I was only reading out the questions not answering them!! The Winners were the Rose and Crown Starling with 48 correct and the Dungeon A second with 46. The Rose and Crown Starling and the Dungeon B seemed to win most of the Raffle Prizes between them, some people have all the luck. And so to the Prizes, Radcliffe Cricket Club ran out champions, after a tussle with the Shoulder of Mutton and the Rose and Crown Starling. The Shoulder had to settle for the Runners-up Shield for the 2nd year running (maybe next year guys), the Wooden Spoon was awarded to the Dungeon B after a bad start to their 1st year in the League, but they stuck to it and took advantage of a great handicap, to win the Knockout Cup by 1 point from the Rose and Crown Starling. I think the boys from the Dungeon B have made quite an impact this season, they always make you welcome and once they got used to the league format, their scores improved as the season wore on. On a slightly different tack, we could do with another 3 teams in the league, if anybody knows any Pub or Club who might be interested, email me and I will visit them over the Summer. So, everybody, have a good summer and I will contact you all when a date is decided for the AGM. |
