BURY REPROGRAPHICS QUIZ LEAGUE
Week3Monday 13th OCT
Well with this Indian summer we have been experiencing lately the Bury quiz league is starting to heat up also, this week’s match of the week was at the phoenix nights venue Heap Bridge Social Club who after last week’s slaughtering of the Rose Starling followed it up with a very close game with the Sundial Walmersley Road. The SunDial appear to have started to warm up at last and scared the home team but just succumbed with a score of 50-47 in a high scoring game.
Early pace setters Swan and Railway Radcliffe A’s were hosting the Packhorse Affetside and in a nutshell the bubble burst as Packhorse galloped away with the win but no need to but the dunces hat on yet Swans as you haven’t played the Rose Starling yet! The Packhorse may be in for league honours this year as they quietly go about there business strange thing to say when Sue is in charge! The score -35-53.
Rose and Crown Bury were hosting the Swan and Railway B’s and were hoping to run into form but the Swan shunted them back into the E.L.R. Sidings and steamed away with the win with a score of 35-45.
The final game played this week was at Champions Radcliffe Cricket Club who had runners up Rose and Crown Starling visiting in a great start the Rose took an early lead but the roof fell in and the Cricket club were never headed again the individual rounds were the visitors down fall with the exception of one team member, mentioning no names as he writes this report, the other rounds were fairly even on the night but has the Roses early season wanderings taken it’s toll, and has Phil Dodd’s cricketer’s got everyone stumped again, we will see, the score 58-45. The Rose and Crown Starling will reopen again following refurbishments on Thursday 16th Oct.
The final game between the Rose and Crown Ramsbottom and Stopes Tavern was postponed as the questions had seemingly gone awry from the venue both teams have agreed to re-arrange the fixture for a free week in Nov.
Week 3 Monday 20th
This weeks fixtures have thrown up some strangely intriguing matches the SunDial host the runaway leaders and Champions Radcliffe Cricket Club and a match that may be tougher for the visitors than expected, the hosts may run them close!
Stopes Tavern have the Rose Bury visiting and with both teams not having the best of starts this may define the season for one of the teams but if both teams play to top form then this will be a cracker and will go to the last question of the last round, a draw is not unfeasible.
Rose Starling have the pace setting Swan A’s visiting their newly refurbished home, and on early form they could pinch the points as the Roses enforced travels have hit a few dead ends, but if Wally hits form they had better watch out!
Swan and Railway b’s host the phoenix lads and this one should be the match of the week, both teams are capable of flying at the highest level and this one could be very, very close.
Final game has the hill derby between the Packhorse and Rose Rammy, the packhorse has had a good start and I can’t see Peter Taylor’s cats purring quite yet. Home win.
