BURY REPROGRAPHICS QUIZ LEAGUE
Week4Monday 20th OCT
This week’s fun had a backdrop of full blown autumnal weather and an outbreak of man-flu. The Rose and Crown Starling is also open again and in the first match at the refurbished venue the early pacesetters Swan and Railway A were the visitors with man-flu affecting team selection but with Fay Heenan and Carl Dykes more than able team substitutes alongside Alan Smith and captain for the night John Heenan they showed why they are a surprise package this year when they ran last seasons league runners up very close on the night but eventually succumbing to a 41-31 defeat and a win for the homecoming struggling for form Rose Starlings.
Contender for Team of the week this week was Sun Dial who had league champions and leaders Radcliffe Cricket Club visiting and in a high scoring match the Diallers lost but still had a creditable score of 40 but Phil Dodd’s flyers had 64. 40-64 score.
Pack Horse Affetside had Rose and Crown Ramsbottom climbing the windswept heights this week and in a match that upset the predictions and Peter Taylor’s cats are purring apparently, the Rose Rammy won in a landslide to earn the team of the week accolade and a score of 40-53.
The battle at Swan and Rail Radcliffe where the B’s hosted the phoenix lads from Heap Bridge Social Club and in a predicted close encounter the home side came of second best 40-46.
The match at Stopes Tavern had Ian Openshaws Rose and Crown Bury visiting and the fist half honours were evenly shared but with Stopes taking just a single point from the Stick or Twist round the score was 17-19 to the rose at the half. Falling further behind in rnd 5 the home side made a comeback in Rnd 6 and took a 2 point lead into the final rounds but somehow they managed to maintain their 100% record of played 3, lost 3, by drawing a complete blank in Rd8 & at 38-38 the Rose’s correct answer of Croatia on the last question gave them the points on the night. Another frustrating evening for the Taverners, whose past history is coming back to haunt them yet again!
Week 5 Monday 27th
The week’s fixtures for the 27th have some surprising predictions and in the first match Rose Rammy are favourites to beat Rose Starling. The above results have Peter Taylor’s side running away with the match same as last year but you never know?
Radcliffe Cricketers have a local derby against Swan B and if Swan play to the year ending form of last year this could be an away win but the Cricketers have been knocking the runs home to all boundary points and the Swans have been moulting points, home win.
Rose Bury versus the Pack Horse traditionally close and both team hot and cold if Sue has the lads back in harness away win but if the Rose lads have a full head of steam they could just smoke it, match of the week potentially.
Swan A’s at home to the Sun Dial and a home win is predicted but the diallers are starting to wake up and could, if the girls are on form, just squeak it.
Heap Bridge are at home to the Taverner’s and should if form holds, be too strong for the visitors at this stage of the season but if Paul Gardeners men had Christmas early they could overturn the form book.
