SECRETARY'S COMMENTS
|
We welcomed Rammy British Legion into the cosy environs of the Stopes Snug & with both teams looking for their 1st win of the season, surely one of us was going to savour the sweet taste of victory tonight??
The Legion team of Margaret, Susan, Bernard & Dave elected to lead the way & were quicker out of the blocks, leading 8-13 after 2 rounds. We re-grouped & care of a 9 pointer in Rd3 dragged ourselves abck into contention @ 17-19. Once again the degree of difficulty in the 1st Stick or Twist question caught out Rammy & they drew a blank, to our 2 point response & all was even as we headed to the bar at half time. A disastrous Rd5 for Rammy saw us take the lead for the 1st time & the 5 point advantage would prove enough of a buffer to hold on to, as Rammy outscored us by 3 over the closing 3 rounds & we limped over the line victorious, but by an ever so slender margin 44-42, well played Ann, Linda, Terry & Bob. Now then, I've harrangued you for your impartial?? reports & today I've received 2, both from the same game.... The Shoulder v Hairy Hounds & apologies to Jason, yours is filed away on my PC at work, whilst Ian's offering, is here for you all to enjoy. Ian's head is still fuzzy from last weeks Rolling Stones gig & the astute amongst you might just detect the odd reference to his beloved heroes!!! Under Cover Of The Night the Hounds visited the Shoulder. Hounds opted to Start Me Up, Shoulder took a first round lead 7-4. Hounds scored full marks on first individual round to make the score a Respectable 13-12. Round Three had walruses White and Stadler again, hopefully appearing for The Last Time this season. However all questions answered correctly, so no Mixed Emotions. Round Four Sticky Fingers or Twist. I wouldn’t want to Paint It Black, but with a theme of Stones The Crows , Hounds hoping for a question on the band, discovered You Can’t Always Get What You Want and became Tumbling dice, falling at the first hurdle. Shoulder managed two, giving a half-time score 23-20. Round Five saw Shoulder with 8-6, the Hounds still hoping to Not Fade Away or run Out of Time. Round 6 saw the debutant Question Master almost have a 19th Nervous Breakdown having to repeat acetylsalicylic acid once or twice. It was another 8-6 for the Mutton boys. Second individual round again saw Hounds score full marks, giving them some Satisfaction, but they were losing 43-40. Round 8 went 9-6 to the Shoulder, thanks to Jim Hines becoming a Jumpin’ Jack Flash in 9.95 sec. So It’s All Over Now, Shoulder victors 52-46. Great reporting Ian, he's off to see the Macc Lads next week, God forbid he sends in another homage!!! now don't be shy, lets have more offerings of how you faired. PS: I am on holiday from the 1st to 15th November, would anyone like to take over the reigns in my absence?? & report on the games played on the 6th & 13th November.
