SECRETARY'S COMMENTS
|
Week 5: The weeks are flying by & there is a familiar feel to the shape of the league. With 2 teams still holding a 100% record, would the visit to The Stopes Roses put a dent in their title defence?
Slow starts have been our un-doing in the past 2 games, so when only trailing by 2 points 9-11 after the individual round, it was quite encouraging. Unfortunately we would only add a further 7 points to our tally, our ignorance of all things Harry Potter limited us to a single point in the stick or twist & the SoM piled on the points to lead 16-24 at the interval. After 6 rounds we had reduced the deficit to 6, but it was again another frustrating evening for the Roses as we would eventually succumb to the superior knowledge of the league leaders & bowed out defiantlty at 44-53, well played Paul, Andy, Jason & Steve as they headed back to the hills & prepared for next weeks top of the table clash in a sectet mountain retreat.....Holcombe by the Hill The Hairy Hounds made the short trip down the road to RBL & Ian had the guys fired up to get their season back on track & boy didd they put Margaret et al to the sword. With a complete no-show in the 1st half, the hapless RBL failed to even engage 1st gear as the questions appeared to be from a different planet & the screline of 8 - 27 didn\\\'t tell any lies. With a mountain to climb, RBL would actually out-score the Hounds in the 2nd half, but it was way, way, to long a way back to effect the final result 37 - 47 & it was back to the drawing board to re-group & lick their wounds. Our noisy neighbours, the Cricketers, are right back on track & made the journey up into Bandit country to take on the Dungeon B. With an impressive display, Phil made another bold statement of their intentions by spanking the hosts by a massive 64 -31 for the high score of the night & out-scoring the next best by 11 points, impressive!!! Dave & the lads took solace by drowning their sorrows in a Barrel of \\\"Aye up Cock\\\" & reet gud it was too. Title contenders, St Marys welcomed the Dungeon A into their lair & it was business as usual for the home side as they maintained their unbeaten record to record another excellent win 52 - 34. The 1st \\\"6 pointer\\\" of the season next week, as SoM test the credentials of their nearest rivals, its a toss of a coin for me, way to close to call. Don\\\'t forget, Monday 12th is the Xmas Quiz, bring along a prize or three for the Raffle, its all for a good cause. Well played everyone, its time for my bed, goodnight. |
