SECRETARY'S COMMENTS
A quick glance at this weeks results show the most competitve week of the season by far, with close to bu**er all between winners & losers & a set of questions which seems to have appealed across the board.

The seasons runaway leaders made the long haul down to their closest rivals at St Marys & boy did the visitors stamp their authority on the game as they rattled up 17 points from the 1st 2 rounds for a measley 9 from the shell-shocked hosts.

Things were looking bleak for St Mary\\\'s as they failed to mount a serious challenge. They hardly got out of 1st gear, with only a further 6 points added from rounds 3 & 4 & it was all too easy for Jason, Paul & Co. as they breezed to a massive 13 point lead of 15-28.
Maybe with such a massive advantage, the Shoulder eased off the pedal in the second half. Whilst the hosts regained something like their usual form & actually out-scored the Shoulder in every 2nd half round. But despite a convincing scoreline of 31-25 it was a case of to little to late & another opportunity to stop the S of M juggernaut goes begging (JUST WAIT TIL NEXT WEEK!!!)

For a review of the game at the Dungeon, read above, but in reverse, if that makes any sense. The Dungeon B were in fine form as they put the Hairy Hounds to the Sword & lead by 5 points 20-15 as they headed to the bar for more Hobgoblin Gold (on Draught) I think the Hounds had been enjoying too much of the local Fayre before the game commenced judging by the 1st half!!!

They soon regained their composure & did a St Marys, but this time with a happy ending, piling on the points & winning every round to amass 31 points to a disappointing 20, one too many Goblins for Dave & Co?

Next up The Stopes Roses against their nemesis, in the form of The Dungeon A, they are always very close affairs & we are usually on the wrong end of the result, the Roses were looking to get back to winning ways.

Round 1 & its 7 a piece, good start for us....just a battering 3 to 9 in the next round & its deja-vu & here we go again!!! We dropped a further 2 points in rounds 3 & 4 to trail 18-26 & it was looking good for Mike,Sue, Simon & Marcus. We are made of stern stuff & dug in deep to claw back 6 points in rounds 5 & 6 to trail by only 2 & it was game on.

Our individual round efforts have been dire for most of the season & adding only 3 in Rd 7, gave us 6 for the game & this so often proves to be our un-doing & lying 3 points behind as we headed into the final round would surely prove to much to drag back?!

Yea of little faith, despite never holding a lead throughout the whole game we reached question 32 actually drawing at 44 a piece (in the absence of the questions) I can only recall that the last question on Italian Bread secured an unlikely win for Linda, Ann, Terry & Lee, brilliant game, well played one & all.

A draw would have been a fair result....like heack it would, we needed the points badly to restore our shattered confidence.

Last game up tonight RBL vs Stopes Cricketers & in the absence of a scoresheet, I cannot bull it it up, other than to say hard luck to Margaret\\\\\\\'s Legionaires, a great effort to score 46 points & not get a Cigar as Phils Cricketers rattled up 50.

With one hand already on the League Trophy, its up to The Stopes Roses to put a halt to the impressive 100% record of the Shoulder next week.

Excellent scoring this week, give yourselves a collective pat on the back, a pint of the Hobbgblin Gold would go down just nice right now.
